Re: Congratulations to the Powell Valley Vikings!
Well after sitting here and reading this entire thing. I have found this to be quite funny...if there is no Tri-champs as ppl are saying and PV are the champs...why didn't they beat Burton both times in regular season..if LPD b-ball is so bad and PV is truly the best team why didn't they come out with a better record then Burton or Kelly...my opinion is all three teams worked their asses off to get the Tri-championship. Burton not better than Pv, Pv not better than Kelly, Kelly's not better than Burton. Seasons over with nothing anyone can say about it really matters now. Seasons done, it's the Tourney.

Drum roll.............
I have went over all the data and found one interesting note among the dispute between the 3 teams involved. I have found a very important piece of data which tells me who exactly the winner of the LPD Championship is. All three teams played Gate City during the regular season.
J.I. Burton lost to Gate City by a score of 70-37, a 33 pt. defeat... J.I. Burton also lost again 71 to 41. a 30 pt. defeat.
So in turn the Raiders lost to Gate City by an average of 31.5 pts during the season.
Powell Valley lost to Gate City by a score of 72-27, a 45 pt. defeat.
J.J. Kelly lost to Gate City by a score of 79-48, a 31 pt. defeat.
Seeing as how a team usually gets about at least 15 pts. better during the year, it seems that P.V. would lose to G.C. by at least 30 again while Kelly would lose by around 16. So by the law of averages, and some basic math,
Norton 31.5 - 15 equals 16.5 / 2 = 8.25
Valley lost by 45 and if played about same time as Burton again early in year probably would have lost by around 36 at their place which equals a 41.5 average - 15 pts = 26.5 / 2 = 13.25 for a two game loss.
Kelly lost by 31 pts. and if played again at their place, Kelly probably would probably lose by around 16 not adding in the usual 10 pts. that are helped along by the refs as well... so maybe at least a defeat by 6.... averaged in with the 31 point defeat and you have a defeat average of 18.5 / 2 = 9.25 average for a two game loss.
I would have to conclude that the true LPD champs by a mere 1 point are the J.I. Burton Raiders, but since none of you can come into total and complete agreement, I say that the championship should be divided into three halves. Give a half to each school. Take it and know that you are sharing it with one another and live in harmony. Now be gone.
May the wisdom surround you all as you go forth through the lands.

I am also an outside observer. You can do figures on paper all you like but the games are played on the court not paper. PV won the tie breaker rounds so to me they are the better team pure and simple. You cant go by what these teams did against one certain team. You go by how they played each other.
Re: Congratulations to the Powell Valley Vikings!
Exactly wwhat I'm saying. It's like in the 05 football season when PV got beat by Clintwood and Burton and GC beat Cwood and dominated Burton and PV came out in the playoffs and beat the socks off GC.
But this is getting ridiculous. The more we argue with raider13 the more stupid he will behave.

Re: Congratulations to the Powell Valley Vikings!
Here is the way I see it. First off I don't give a rats rear-end who won or lost. Secondly it's ignorant for grown ups to be arguing with a kid. Some even act like they are wanting to throw fisticuffs with him.
They should have just drawed straws and saved everyone a few brain cells.
Re: Congratulations to the Powell Valley Vikings!
Doesn't matter now. PV got WHIPPED tonight.
Appalachia has come a long way just hope we can beat them Saturday night.
